Offering machine

This post is from the defunct blog "Dying Church"

I like the idea of this Offering Machine (found through Living Room). Okay, like may be a little strong. I can look at it as long as I'm not eating. I would only make one modification. I would also like it to dispense money to anyone who asked for it. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles

Could be an idea but how would a church responsibly steward the disbursement of funds so to ensure that the truly destitute are being served and the church's money doesn't get swidolled?

good call. One Sunday I was at a church where the worship leader introduced the offering time by saying 'and now we'll be taking up the offering. Give as you feel God leading you...and if you are in need today financially feel free to take from the plate as it passes by.' She hadn't talked to leadership about it before hand.... You should have seen the look on the pastor and treasurers face! No one dared take anything - but I found myself wishing church could be more like that.
